Uniforms

For “Formal” events, we wear our “Orca Shirts” (“Dark Navy” button downs). This includes competitions, fundraisers, festivals, and any other events where we need to look cohesive.

“Shop Days”, regular meetings, etc no uniform is expected.

Patches:

Orca Team Badge

All Orca shirts should have an Orca Patch (large round) above the left breast pocket. If you need one, contact any of the mentors and we’ll locate you one.

Department

A Department patch goes at the bottom of your right sleeve, and is color coded for what part of the team you work with most. Additionally, CPR/First Aid certified team members have an additional patch above it.

Lettermen

Letters: Lettermen may wear their “E” patch below the left breast pocket, along with any EHS lettering patches they may have. The standard Robotics letter pattern is:
First Year Lettermen: Letter and FRC Sigil. Sigil may be placed anywhere on the letter.
Second Year Lettermen: Red Bar. Bar may be placed anywhere but should be near the sigil
Third Year Lettermen: White Bar. White bar should be placed adjacent to the red bar, either to the right or below it.
Fourth Year Lettermen: Blue Bar. Blue bar should be placed adjacent to the white bar on the opposite side from the red bar.

Badges

Badges are given for many different recognitions within Robotics Club, and the colors/symbols represent various achievements. All Badges should be worn above the right breast pocket in a line, when you run out of room you can start another line above it.

All badges have a year and a frame, with the year representing the robotics season in which it was earned (not necessarily the year the event happened – for example if you attend a summer event in ’24, the ’25 season has already started and the badge will have a 25 on it).

 

Blue and Gold represent EHS and are our “General” awards for things that most members can be expected to accomplish, including participating in events, qualifications, etc.

Blue Badges: Blue Badges have a blue trim and gold backing. The first of these is the “Year Patch”, which all members gain for participating in the club that year. Other Blue badges are awarded for things like participating in recruiting events, fundraisers, etc.

Gold Badges: Gold badges have gold trim and blue backing. These are awarded for members who meet minimum requirements in areas such as logging hours in hacknplan, getting tool qualifications, and passing their drive team exam.

 

Silver and Cast Iron: As the Orcas’ main colors, Silver and Cast Iron badges are our most prestigious awards. These are given out for “above and beyond” accomplishments and significant achievements within the team.

Silver Badges: Silver badges have silver trim and black backing. They are given out for significant achievements that go to a higher level – such as meeting high-end fundraising goals, making it to officer, or having exceptional number of hours in hacknplan.

Cast Iron Badges: Cast Iron Badges have black trim and silver backing. They are the highest level awards among the orcas and are rare as a result. One example is the Golden Orca, which represents long term contributions to the team.

	HackNPlan Advanced	Log the advanced number of hours on HackNPlan tasks
	Letterman	Letter for the first time. Note that this award ALSO confers the “Giant E” Letter and a corresponding FRC Logo sigil.
	Letterman 2	Letter for the second time. Also confers a “Red Bar” for your Letter
	Letterman 3	Letter for the third time. Also confers a “White Bar” for your Letter.
	Letterman 4	Letter for the fourth time. Also confers a “Blue Bar” for your Letter.
	President	Be elected President
	Vice President: Mechanical	Be elected Mechanical Department Lead
	Vice President: Operations	Be elected Operations Department Lead
	Vice President: Programming	Be elected Programming Department Lead
	Secretary/Treasurer	Be elected Secretary or Treasurer
	Safety Lead	Be elected Safety Lead
	Honorary Officer	Be appointed into any non-elected Officer position
	HackNPlan Max	Log the highest number of hours on HackNPlan tasks for the Season
	Golden Orca	The Golden Orca is essentially the Hall of Fame award for the Orcas and is earned for exceptional contributions to the Pod.
	First Aid/CPR	Have a current First Aid/CPR certification. This badge also confers related rocker patches and other Emergency Aid identifiers.
