New Mentor
Last week, we welcomed our new mentor, Khushbu Patel, to the Cast Iron Orcas team! Graduating from University of Austin, Texas, she majored in aerospace engineering with computational sciences. She is currently pursuing a graduate in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Washington.
She is currently working as a Avionics and Software Lead at Gravitics, with the goal to advance humanity’s presence in the universe. At her previous jobs, Virgin Orbit and Relativity Space, she was responsible for the safety of space vehicles, payloads and crews. Her expertise is in solving intricate technical challenges, and is applied commonly to solving issues related to the safety of the people.
In her spare time, she enjoys visiting local coffee shops and bakeries, reading Goodreads top picks, watching sports and movies, camping, and doing arts and crafts. She is an avid fan of collecting space-themed LEGOs, and has experienced zero-gravity on the Vomit Comet.
She is very excited to now be a mentor for the pod, and in her own words, “Mentoring brings me genuine fulfillment, as it allows me to share the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained over the years. I strive to be the mentor I wish I had: someone who empowers students, helps them grow with confidence, and equips them to succeed in their pursuits, including competitions and beyond.”

Club Fair
Club Fair this year was a absolute success! The Pod nearly filled the entire sign up sheet this year, which is a better than we’ve done every other year!
Thursday next week, we will be having a new member meeting to welcome any new orcas to the pod. For any existing members, please remember to wear your uniform to the meeting. If you do not have one, you can ask Mr. Flatmo on tuesday.
